Vineyards: south-facing vines planted at a density of 5000/ha using the spur-trained method of cultivation
Soil: calcareous-marl clays deriving from the disintegration of limestone rocks such as alberese and galestro
Harvest: second half of September
Fermentation: fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature lower than 27°C for 15 to18 days, followed by cement-vitrified tanks

Ageing: 36 months in small French oak barrels

ning: 4 to 6 months of bottle refinement before market release
Alcohol: 14.5%
Color: intense ruby red, tending to garnet with age
Nose: very intense, long persistent, with plum and balsamic hints

  • Only a selection of the best Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Malvasia Nera grapes are used to make this Gran Selezione, which is only made in great vintages. At least 36 months of aging in small French oak barrels follow the careful maceration, and the wine is refined for at least 6 months in the bottle before release. Intense plum aromas with balsamic hints, a soft and velvety texture and a long and elegant dry finish.
