Vineyards: from three different plots: Vigneto La Scuola of 1.5ha, vigneto Le Fonti of 1ha and vigneto Il Capanno of 4ha.
Soil: mixed sand and clay with limestone
Harvest: manual harvest in small crates, mid to end of September
Fermentation: fermentation for 10 days with 18 days of skin maceration in stainless steel tanks
Ageing: 24 months in small French barrels (500L tonneaux)
Reﬁning: brief bottle refinement before market release
Color: Splendid ruby color with hints of crimson.
Nose: On the nose it offers a bouquet of violet, marasca cherry, blackberry and raspberry.

Primum Vinum is Montechiaro’s signature wine, expressing the full potential of only the best Sangiovese chosen the oldest vineyards, harvested by hand and carefully selected. Two full years of aging in small barrels of French oak give this wine a richness and complexity that pairs well with rich, flavorful foods. Can be left to age further in the cellar.
